Animal Control Contract
Between The City of Hokah
and K-9 Express

The City of Hokah and K-9 Express of 119 South Kingston Street, Caledonia, MN 55921 desire to enter into contract for the care,
custody and control of animals in the City of Hokah.
This document details the rights and obligations of both parties relevant to said contract.
The term of this contract shall be from January 6, 2009 through January 5, 2010. The City of Hokah agrees to pay a
total amount of $1200 compensation to K-9 express for services rendered during this contract.
Payment schedule shall be as follows:
One half due January 2009 and the second half due July 2009.
K-9 Express will conduct at least one inoculation clinic located in the City of Hokah during the term of this contract.
This clinic is tentatively scheduled for April 2009. K-9 Express agrees to assist in licensing City of Hokah animals at this
event as well as cooperate and participate with La Crescent Animal Rescue if they are interested.
At law enforcement request K-9 Express will transport and house running at large, nuisance and abused animals for
five consecutive days excluding weekends and holidays. After stated time animal becomes the property of
K-9 Express to be advertised for adoption or proper humane disposal thereof.
K-9 Express shall charge $25 per animal and daily boarding fee of $15 for each animal it collects.
These charges shall be the responsibility of the owner of the animal, not the City of Hokah.
If a confined animal is not licensed the owner will have seven days to acquire a license from the City of Hokah.
After seven days K-9 Express agrees to contact the Hokah Police Department for the issuance of a citation to the animal owner.
Normal business hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. After hours K-9 Express will be available by emergency only.
An additional service fee of $25 may be assessed to the owner of an animal collected after hours.
K-9 Express agrees to assist the citizens of Hokah with any educational questions during normal business hours.
K-9 Express agrees to continue its license status with Houston County and the State of Minnesota.
K-9 Express agrees to provide liability insurance and holds harmless the City of Hokah for any and all damages that may occur.
The City of Hokah may be responsible for initial sick animal veterinarian costs not to exceed $75 per unidentified owner animal.
If animal is later identified the owner shall assume these costs.
This agreement is exclusively limited to calls generated in the city limits of the City of Hokah.
The City of Hokah assumes no liability for animal calls that are generated outside its city limits.
